The World Scientific Congress of Golf 2018 was held in the beautiful town of Abbotsford, British Columbia in conjunction with the University of the Fraser Valley. The conference took place from July 11-13 and involved 3 great days of keynotes, workshops and presentations. In total there were around 70 presentations given on subjects all across the golf science spectrum.
The 3 keynote lectures were as follows:
Dr Mark Guadagnoli, Professor of Neuroscience and Neurology for the UNLV School of Medicine: “Effective Practicing and the Challenge Zone”
Dr Sasho Mackenzie, Professor, PhD Sports Biomechanics. St. Francis Xavier University: “Club Speed… Get Some” (Sasho gave the Rafer Lutz memorial lecture)
Will Robins, The Scoring Method – “On Course Strategy and Tactics”
The best presentation awards were given to the following people:
Nicky Lumb, University of the West of England, Bristol, United Kingdom: “Do Structures of Practice and Knowledge of Results Influence Learning and Performance?”
Sara Kramers, University of Ottawa: “Examining Implicit/Explicit Approaches to Life Skills Development on the Quality of Youth Golf Programming”
